Description

Punta Loma is one of the oldest protected areas in the Province of Chubut. It was created in 1967 with the objective of protecting an area where there is a sea lion colony and several bird nesting colonies. It is located in Golfo Nuevo. Its most significant biological value is the sea lion colony and the colonies of South American terns and cormorants. Other species of birds and marine mammals, such as whales and orcas, are occasionally observed from the cliffs. The area can be visited all year round, although low tide hours should be taken into account if the objective is to observe the sea lions.
