Description

The Península de San Julián Provincial Reserve was created in 1986 under provincial jurisdiction. The steppe soil and the ocean converge in the reserve, which causes a striking landscape counterpoint where the grassy plateau is cut into steep cliffs or the shrubby plain is introduced into the vast boulder beaches. The beaches of the peninsula are home to an important number of birds, both marine and coastal, such as the Magellanic penguin, the biguá, the imperial cormorant, and the black-necked cormorant or rock cormorant.
