Description

The Bahía San Julián Limited Use Area under Special Protection was created in 1990 under provincial jurisdiction. The area comprises a deep sea inlet between Cabo Curioso and Punta Desengaño and culminates in a wide sac that is mostly exposed at low tide. It has shrubby terrestrial vegetation and subtidal macroalgae forests. The waters of Bahía San Julián are home to permanent resident Commerson’s dolphins. It is recognized as an Important Bird Conservation Area (IBA).

Bahía San Julián Area of Limited Use Under Special Protection was created in 1990 under provincial jurisdiction. The purpose of its creation is the protection and conservation of marine birds and mammals. The area comprises a deep sea inlet between Cabo Curioso and Punta Desengaño and finishes in a wide sac that remains mostly exposed at low tide. It presents shrubland vegetation and subtidal macroalgae forests (Padin 2007_ Booklet AP).
